Essential Math 30S
Practical Math Skills for Everyday Life: Building a Foundation for Real-World Decision Making.
Essential Math 30S is intended for students whose post-secondary planning does not include a focus on mathematics or science-related fields. Grade 11 Essential Mathematics builds on knowledge from the ME20S course and provides a foundation for the topics studied in Grade 12 Essential Math. ME30S emphasizes consumer applications, problem-solving, decision making and spatial sense. Students are expected to work individually and in small groups on mathematical concepts and skills encountered in everyday life in a technological society. Topics include Interest and Credit, 3D Geometry, Statistics, Managing Money, Trigonometry, Relations and Patterns, and Design Modelling.
NOTE: Essential Mathematics is accepted by most faculties at universities and post-secondary institutions. Check with a counsellor to ensure that Essential Mathematics is a viable option for your chosen career path.
Course Requirements
Completion of Essential Math 20S (Grade 10) is required.
Credit Recovery
This course could be taken as a Credit Recovery course.
Eligibility
The Wapaskwa Virtual Collegiate operates under the authority of the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre organization and provides educational services to its affiliated schools and First Nations. Search for affiliated schools under MFNERC and MFNSS in the search tool linked below.
Course Registration
The Wapaskwa Virtual Collegiate student intake periods occur twice a year. Semester one intake is during the summer months of June through September. Semester two intake is during the winter months of December through February.
